History
Members of Perritt Laboratories staff have participated in providing
research data, collected for the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA), leading to the testing procedures
codified in the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA) of 1970.
Jurisdiction of the PPPA was transferred from the FDA to the U.
S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in 1973. This testing
procedure has become the base procedure for every related test standard
worldwide.
In addition to providing the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
(CPSC) with compliance testing, Perritt Laboratories has also provided
the Commission with the research data leading to the Child-Resistant
Cigarette Lighter testing procedures.
In support of the major revisions to the Poison Prevention Packaging
Act test procedures in 1995, Perritt Laboratories again participated
in providing research data to the CPSC.
Perritt Laboratories has successfully participated in Child-Resistant
Package (CRP) testing procedures round robin testing for both the
CPSC and the American Society for Testing of Materials (ASTM) Institute
for Standards Research (ISR).
