- United States Pharmacopeia(USP) <51> Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing
- European Pharmacopeia(Ph. Eur. or EP) 5.1.3 Efficacy of Antimicrobial Preservation
- Japanese Pharmacopeia(JP) 19, Preservative Effectiveness Tests
Perritt Laboratories performs Antimicrobial Effectiveness testing according to methods listed in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur. or EP) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP). In addition, we perform testing according to AOAC Official Methods of Analysis, ASTM testing standards, AAMI and other standard testing compendia. The AET (Preservative Effectiveness Test or PET) is a standardized test used to verify that a product’s preservative system can effectively inhibit microbial growth over time.
We also provide testing for industrial applications such as building materials, disinfectants, biocides and sanitizers, paints and coatings, and various other applications.
Preservatives, whether incorporated in pharmaceutical drug formulations, or added to consumer products, are helpful in maintaining the safety of the product by either reducing the number of microorganisms or simply inhibiting their growth. In order to test preserved products, the system is challenged with high numbers of specified bacteria, yeast and molds and tested at appropriate time points.
Our full-service, cGMP, ISO 17025 accredited microbiological testing services can provide you with timely test results with the expertise and quality that you require, backed by a staff of dedicated professionals that have been at the forefront of testing since 1973. Our FDA-registered facility has earned the trust of pharmaceutical and consumer product companies around the world.
We offer method development and validation services to address unique testing challenges. Whether you require modifications to existing methods or entirely new approaches, we can help you create a solution that meets your specific requirements.
Customized antimicrobial test methods can be especially valuable to the pharmaceutical, personal care product and cosmetic formulator. These methods could allow formulators to test multiple preservative formulations to determine the most effective preservative or preservative system in a shorter amount of time than the typical antimicrobial or preservative effectiveness test.
You may find larger laboratories, but you won’t find a testing lab that can match our recognized expertise and personal touch. We know our clients by name, not client number, and it shows in their satisfaction with our testing services.
